Prospects and challenges of the sharing economy in Quebec
February 12, 2019, 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
This is the third in a series of panels put on by second-year students in the Community, Public Affairs and Policy Studies program. This panel will be discussing the intricacies of the sharing economy.
The sharing economy, also known as collaborative consumption, gig economy and on-demand economy — among others — is a relatively new phenomena that has been growing rapidly in recent years. However, this could lead to lower worker protection, as well as unbalancing the current market.
The discussion will focus around questions such as what benefits does the sharing economy hold for communities? How do we ensure the safety and ethical treatment of workers in the sharing economy? How are traditional economies affected by the sharing economy?
