This session is ideal for those who are planning to conduct individual or focus group interviews and want to focus on the interview moment. Participants will be introduced to the interview protocol refinement framework as well as other techniques for improving the quality of data and avoiding common pitfalls associated with conducting interviews. Participants will evaluate the types of questions that can and cannot be asked and the ways in which questions can be posed that tend to generate the most useful and authentic data. Participants are also encouraged to raise questions for discussion or share a tip that enhanced a previous interview experience.
Your willingness to participate in a mock interview and give and receive constructive feedback will enrich this workshop experience. If you have developed an interview protocol that you want to test or refine, bring it with you. You will be able to engage more actively in-class exercises if you bring a Wi-Fi enabled laptop with MS Word (or other document-editing software) and Adobe Acrobat (or other PDF-viewing software).
