The American Internationalism of José Enrique Rodó, Uruguayan writer and philosopher

This centenary literary hommage to José Enrique Rodó, Uruguayan writer and philosopher, will be the first of its kind in Canada.
Seven speakers will present their papers on the following topics:
- Hispanic American Modernism and the transformative influence of José Enrique Rodó's work with other European, Oriental and American thinkers, such as Miguel de Unamuno, Edward Said, Stanisław Wyspiański, and Sylvia Iparragirre.
- Current theories and debates about his major literary work Ariel.
- Intertextuality and dialogism of Rodó's literature, national and international politics, and ethics, as well his public life and philosophical approach.
