The fall term at Concordia has been enjoyable and rewarding. Many Concordians have shown me how proud they are to study, teach and work here. Thank you for the great welcome!

The next few months will be important for higher education in Quebec as we adjust to the Government of Quebec’s decision to reduce current operating grants to universities. As a first step, we will engage our community in conversations on the issue. I am also hopeful the mid-February summit on higher education will produce viable solutions.

Concordia has great people with great ideas who are determined to succeed. I believe this will be a source of strength in meeting the challenges ahead.

All the very best for the holidays and for the new year.

Alan Shepard
President
