Concordia Journalism mourns the loss of Conrad Duroseau
It is with sadness that the Department of Journalism learned of the passing of Conrad Duroseau, a long-time visual journalism professor and photojournalist, who was the brainchild and one of the founders of our Graduate Diploma in Visual Journalism. He passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Prof. Duroseau was an excellent teacher and colleague who taught part-time from 2002-2010, before helping to inaugurate the new visual journalism program in 2015.
For more than twenty years, Conrad’s photojournalism appeared in The Gazette, Photoselection Magazine, First of the Month, and SOULEYES Magazine, among other publications. He was highly respected and developed a specialty in humanitarian photojournalism, focusing on in-depth coverage of issues in developing/emerging countries in Africa and the Americas, and highlighting environmental problems, natural disasters, poverty, socio-economic disparities and civil unrest. His work appeared in high profile books, publications and exhibitions both nationally and internationally and included the monograph Nul n’est une Ile (No One is an Island): Solidarité Haiti. His work was also showcased by the National Film Board.
Conrad will be very much missed. Our thoughts go to his family and friends. Arrangements are pending.
