A quick change, and slow transition into… what’s next?

As graduating students or recents grads, many of you have been asked, so what’s next? The focus of this talk is to acknowledge the transition of being a student into something new. Young alumni will be invited to think about how to deal with the change and uncertainty ahead, as well as think about, so what happened? Through storytelling and interaction, keynote speaker Helen Downie hopes to inspire participants and leave them with a few golden nuggets for their respective unfolding paths.

Part of the 2017 Alumni Matters graduation transition conference.

About the speakers:

Helen Downie

Helen Downie, BA 11, MA 16, is a change management lead at Concordia. A self-described Concordia groupie and lifelong learner, she holds degrees in political science and human systems intervention, and recently completed a Personal and Professional Coaching Certificate (PPCC) at the university. Throughout, she was engaged as a student leader, alumni board director and staff member within Student Services. In her current role, she works with the people side of business, helping people manage change. A question that has animated most of her life has been "how can I be of help?" Living out this question, she helps people, teams and organizations to connect with their potential. In her spare time, you can find her in movement — on the soccer field, cycling, dancing and walking, or in stillness, mediating, sipping tea or reading.
