The way we respond after a traumatic event may increase or decrease a community's sense of connectedness and communality, which ultimately shapes the quality of life for community members and their families. Newspapers are full of headlines that tell stories of communities devastated by traumatic events; it is time we begin to think about policy and trauma response for our communities to be prepared.

This reader’s theatre showcases a project based on 3 case studies of community trauma using an arts-based method to provoke policy discussions. After the performance, audience members will engage in a problem-solving discussion, in order to create policy about how to effectively address trauma and promote community healing.  Every idea will broaden and redefine notions of grief leadership, community growth, as well as identify useful governmental policies for supporting traumatized communities. Come participate and be part of the solution!
