Aboriginal people in Canada have long suffered from inequities resulting from poorly negotiated land deals or imposed contracts, often designed to strip communities of their lands and rights. As a senior politician and political leader as well as a lawyer well versed in negotiations, arbitration, and mediation, Bob Rae brings with him extensive experience and expertise in the management and resolution of complex issues and conflicts.

In his workshop, Rae will walk participants through many of the existing settlements and contested legal arrangements that continue to constrain Aboriginal communities in this country today. He will explore the challenges of coming to a fair deal for all parties and will propose ways in which the country and its various communities can move forward to find positive solutions for all those involved.
