Over eight days, Congress delegates will be taking full advantage of the excellent shopping, dining, nightlife and cultural activities our city offers. In the past, Congress has welcomed many high-profile speakers, gathered significant local and national media attention, and initiated many successful and ongoing partnerships.
This summit presents an exclusive opportunity for organizations and businesses to share in the focused presence of such a sizable and perceptive audience, and to be a part of the possibilities that will certainly arise.
Our hope is that you will be part of the event by participating in making the off-campus activities both attractive and accessible to our guests. You can join us in welcoming thousands of enthusiastic individuals and benefit while making their experience truly memorable.
Special Event Sponsorship: We are seeking sponsors for several special events such as 5 Presidential Cocktails; 7 days of the Congress Hospitality Tent; cafes; local tours.
Concordia will welcome approximately 9 000 delegates to Congress 2010; the majority are members of the faculty at various Canadian universities. Graduate students constitute Congress’ fastest growing demographic group — approximately 30%. In 2006, there were 40 800 full-time faculty in Canadian universities, of whom 13 400 are women. Social sciences accounted for the largest share of full-time faculty with almost 11 200. Humanities accounted for 6 300 of full-time faculty.
One-third of faculty members in Canadian universities are 55 years-old or older, while about 20% are 40 years-old or younger. Many have worked in a university environment for a large portion of their careers.
While delegates will be at Concordia primarily for Congress, most delegates will only attend for 3—4 days. Among the events traditionally higher in attendance are the President’s Receptions (of which, there will be several in 2010) and the Congress Bookfair (a central feature at each Congress; almost every delegate visits the Bookfair at some point during the conference).
