The manufacturing cluster is made up of the energy, bio-food, petrochemicals and plastics, metallurgy and paper and wood products industries. These are all major manufacturing clusters with growth potential that is based on the use of natural resources. Even though these clusters are associated with the old economy as opposed to the new, they remain significant employers and producers as well as major contributors to Montreal’s economy.
