You will need to first apply for the IELTS Test on the British Council Online Registration System.
When you apply for your test, read each question carefully. You can choose “no” if the question does not apply to you. Please be careful entering your personal information. For example, enter your full name the way it appears appear on your ID document. Enter your birthday as DD/MM/YYYY; if your birthday is December 7, 1999, enter it as 07/12/1999. Confirm all your personal information before you submit.
You must upload a copy of your valid passport or Canadian Permanent Resident Card and make your payment.

Please note that you will be asked to upload a good quality scan of your proof of identity (ID) when you apply. Or you can scan your ID or take a picture with your cellphone and email it to IELTS.firstname.lastname@example.org after you complete your on-line application.
The only proof of identity (ID) accepted are:
Passport (current and valid; expired passports are not accepted) or
Permanent Residency Card (PR Card)
No other forms of ID will be accepted.
The image must be:
No large than than 1600 x 1600 pixels
1.5 MB or less
JPEG, GIF or PNG format
You may edit and reload your ID until it is accepted by the Test Centre.
Once you have completed your application, you will:
Receive by email an "IELTS Application Summary and Documents Confirmation" which includes a link to the secure on-line payment site to make you payment, your IELTS reference number, your test date and type of test
Bring the same ID on the day of the test
If you do not bring the same ID, you will not be allowed to take the exam.
If your ID has been sent for visa extensions, please delay your application of your IELTS test until you receive your identity documents.
