Violin instructor Dragan Djerkic leans down and listens to four-year-old Heidi Sinyor during a Sunday group lesson at Loyola Campus. Taken for my photojournalism course at Concordia, the image stokes memories of my violin lessons at that age, and of Dragan’s skill as a teacher and listener. And for me, it captures some spirit of Concordia because our students remember us not just for the quality of our teaching, but for the quality of our listening – our understanding and encouragement and care.
