Journalism programs prior to Fall 2016

This page contains information for students who were admitted to our three Journalsim programs between 2011 and 2015.

We invite future students to visit the Major in Journalism page.

Program requirements

The 45-credit BA Major for students who want to major in journalism and pursue a second major in another discipline (such as history or political science); or for those who major in journalism and declare a minor in another discipline.  Students who choose this option select one of two tracks within the program: the textual option, which focuses on writing for print and online venues, or the audiovisual option, which focuses on producing audio and video journalism for broadcast and online outlets.

Note: To graduate with a Major in Journalism students are required to complete a Minor or a Major in another subject.

The 72-credit BA Multiplatform Specialization B for students who want to study journalism without pursuing another major or minor, and who also would prefer to take classes in both the textual and audiovisual track. Students who choose this option must take 12 additional credits of "general knowledge" outside the Journalism program in order to fulfill degree requirements.
