The Changing Landscape of Language in Montreal - SCPA Panel

The age-old question of French language has been at the core of Quebec society and remains there today. This year will mark 40 years since the introduction of Bill 101 and much has changed since its adoption, for the better or worse.

Concordia undergraduate students have organized an interactive and informative panel that will explore and discuss the current state of the French language in Montreal. There are many perspectives on this issue. In reality, Quebec society, especially Montreal, has evolved into a hybrid character as a result of Bill 101. 


Invited Panelists come from a broad range of experience and backgrounds:

Gabriel Nadeau Dubois - Student activist leader during the Maple Spring. Currently on tour for a new project he is working on called ‘Faut qu’on se parle’.

Jenny Salgado - Singer from Montreal

Catherine Leclerc - McGill Professor who has done research on

Ariane Cayer - Former President of the Comité National des Jeunes du Parti Québécois.

This event will be mediated by CBC journalist Jonathan Montpetit.
