Dr. Homa Hoodfar, retired professor of sociology and anthropology at Concordia University, was imprisoned for 112 days in Evin Prison in Iran after authorities questioned her for allegedly “dabbling in feminism.”
The ASFA Advocacy Committee invites you to a talk and brunch on the gendering of authority, as it relates to the representation of women in society and the safeguarding of academia. This event will be open to students and community members, allowing them to hear and experience Dr. Hoodfar’s story.
Individuals will then be welcome to ask questions and engage in discussion with Dr. Hoodfar on the aforementioned themes, about which she is extremely passionate and knowledgeable.
