What is it?

Building on the momentum and impact of last year’s hub, Concordia University invites you to the Fall 2018 Ulab Social Innovation Hub. The aim is to create fertile ground for community-based social innovation. Share in a collaborative space of learning, dialogue and innovation with diverse individuals and groups from a variety of sectors across Montreal, and a global network of over 75,000 change makers. Join us to “learn how to create profound innovation in a time of disruptive change by leading from an emerging future”.

How it works

In 2015, MIT launched a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) called ULab – Transforming Business, Self and Society to facilitate people through a process of change that integrates social science, mindfulness and design thinking. Participants register for the online course and work with the material at their own pace and then meet in local, face-to-face learning hubs weekly to move through the process and co-create together.

Could this be for me?
  • Do you and/or your organization have an idea, project or thoughts about a possible solution to a social challenge that you would like to develop further?
  • Would you benefit from a structured change process to support the development of your idea as well as a community of co-learners and innovators?
  • Are you interested in a learning process that allows you to realize the emerging future by engaging in deep learning about yourself, others and the wider environment in which we work and live?
  • Would you like to participate in an action research initiative experimenting with models for community engaged learning?

If you answered yes to these questions, then the Concordia ULab Social Innovation Hub might be just the experience you need.

Participation in the program is free, but registration in the MIT MOOC is mandatory. This is a free, Massive Open Online Course that supports the ULab learning.

You can watch a short introductory video of the MOOC itself and a video from the 2016 Concordia U Lab Hub to get a sense of the u.lab experience:
