Why are smart, well informed human beings nonetheless unable to do the things they want to do — to lose weight, to finish assignments before the deadline, to be better people? Religious traditions have long pondered this problem and now cognitive scientists are joining them.

In this lecture, Dr. Colleen Shantz from St. Michael's College and University of Toronto, will discuss some of this recent theorizing about the what enables personal transformation.

This session is hosted by the Groupe de recherche sur le christianisme et l'antiquité tardive (GRECAT) from l'Université Laval and the Concordia University Graduate Religion Students Association (GRSA).
