Flattering the Demos: The Politics and Fictions of Democratic Citizens

The Department of Political Science at Concordia University invites abstracts for our upcoming interdisciplinary workshop, “Flattering the Demos: The Politics and Fictions of Democratic Citizens”, to be held in Montréal on December 2, 2016. This one-day workshop seeks to stimulate dialogue and debate within the broad topic of democratic political thought in texts and genres beyond the traditions of political science, particularly in literary sources, including novels, poetry, graphic novels, theater, and film. We encourage submissions from PhD students and academics on a variety of topics related to this theme, and hope to receive abstracts from a diverse range of academic disciplines (including but not limited to political science, English, comparative literature, classics, history, fine arts, film studies, philosophy, theology and liberal arts).

Abstracts should be no more than 250 words.

Deadline for proposal submissions: June 24th, 2016.

Please submit abstracts to Eli Friedland: e_fri@live.concordia.ca
