Professor Deborah Dash Moore of the University of Michigan

THE URBAN ORIGINS OF AMERICAN JUDAISM

Professor Moore is Frederick G. L. Huetwell Professor of History
and Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan. Her most recent book, Urban Origins of American Judaism (2014), examines how new religious forms emerged on the streets of American cities and includes a chapter on photographs of American Jews.

This lecture is supported by a grant from the American Academy for Jewish
Research in association with l’Université de Montréal, Microprogramme en
études juives, and the Jewish Studies Program at SUNY Plattsburgh.
