Concordia University's Political Science Department and it's School of Community and Public Affairs is organizing an open forum, to address the Challenges to the Rule of Law in the European Union: The Case of Hungary.
Three internationally recognized experts, Kim Lane Scheppele of Princeton University, Andras Bozoki, visiting professor at Columbia University, New York and Concordia University Political Scientist and civil rights activist, Andras B. Gollner, will examine the validity and substance of Hungary's rule of law violations.
Are the charges levelled against the Hungarian government based on fact, or on prejudice? How serious is the challenge to the rule of law within the EU and how can it affect other members of the North Atlantic community, such as Canada? What can the EU and individual governments like ours do, to ensure that member states comply with the rule of law, and uphold the values that the EU and the North Atlantic community had sworn to defend?
