Concordia’s Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science is piloting a new series of courses throughout March. The courses are taught by full-time faculty members who are recognized leaders in their respective fields.
These courses are of particular interest to members of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), who must complete 30 hours of professional development before March 31. Each course is worth 7.5 hours of credits toward OIQ requirements.
“We’ve tailored these courses to the needs of professionals already working in the field,” says Deborah Dysart-Gale, director of the Centre for Engineering in Society and one of the instructors. “The initial 10 courses are very diverse and if participants would like even more to choose from we’ll have new offerings in the future.”
All courses will be offered at Concordia’s downtown campus in the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex. Class sizes are capped at 25.

- Writing for Clarity for Engineers, March 2
- Concepts and Progress in Power Generation and Energy Systems Engineering, March 9
- Brief Introduction to Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping, March 16
- Brief Introduction to Cloud Computing, March 16
- Wind Effects on Buildings, March 23
- Navigation Systems, March 23
- Introduction to Finite Element Method, March 30
- Fundamentals of Project Cost Estimating, March 30
