Deconstructing December 21: Apocalypse then and now (VIDEO)

November 22, 2012

Earth's longest-running urban legend -- the ancient Mayan prophecy that the world will end on December 21, 2012 -- will soon be tested.

Lorenzo DiTommaso, a doomsday scenario expert, professor and chair in Concordia’s Department of Religion, gave a lecture on the topic on October 3, 2012.

The talk explored end-of-days myths and was organized by Concordia's Advancement and Alumni Relations as part of Homecoming 2012.

Read a profile on DiTommaso and his apocalyptic research in the Winter 2013 issue of Concordia University Magazine.

This video contains highlights of DiTommaso's lecture, which was moderated by Concordia alumna Caroline Van Vlaardingen, BA 84, a CTV Montreal journalist.
