Dinner for Eight
Launched in February 2009, Dinner for Eight creates a forum in which Concordia alumni share their professional experiences and outlook with students over a meal in a casual and relaxed setting, either a restaurant or the host's home.
Dinner for Eight complements the Concordia Mentor Program, whose primary goal is to match students with experienced alumni for career guidance and advice.
Objectives
- Foster interaction between alumni and students
- Improve student life by creating valuable opportunities in which students can obtain career guidance and advice, as well as job-market information, from experienced professionals and one another
- Promote the Mentor Program to alumni and students

Students: Reserve your seat
The Dinner for Eight program is free and open to current students (valid Concordia ID required) on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Browse the list of hosts for a dinner that matches your career interests. Choose ONE DINNER ONLY.
- Click on the host name to launch the registration page. Priority will be given to students whose education background is most closely aligned to the host's job responsibilities or industry.
- An email confirming your registration will be sent to you.
- All registered students must attend a briefing session prior to the dinner. An invitation to the briefing sessions will be sent to you shortly after the confirmation email.
Alumni: Host a dinner
- As a dinner host, you choose the date to spend an evening with pre-selected students.
- Your dinner can be a simple or gourmet meal in your home or a three-course meal at Ristorante Otto in downtown Montreal's W Hotel. Dinners hosted in a restaurant MUST be held at the Otto restaurant.
- You pick the number of students you wish to host. We suggest four to six students per host and a maximum of eight students per couple.
- You will be matched with students based on career interest and/or area of study.
- Hosts will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, but priority will be given to alumni who wish to host a dinner in their homes.
- Hosts are requested to provide a brief bio to be shared with the students attending the dinner.
- Hosts are encouraged to come up with ice-breakers to be emailed to the students prior to the meal. Tips on how to make the event more enjoyable will also be provided.
- Your meal as well as the students' meals will be covered. Meals of spouses or guests of hosts are excluded, as well as alcoholic drinks during dinners.
- If you prefer to host the dinner at home, we'll reimburse you up to $20 for each student hosted.
