Program objectives
- Encourage collaboration between Concordia alumni and students to promote solidarity and interaction within the Universityís community
- Offer alumni and students an opportunity to gain access to valuable experience and facilitate their entry into the job market
- Establish a link between mentors and mentees to facilitate career exploration and career counselling
- Offer a platform for alumni networking and promote interaction between Concordia alumni and current students

The Concordia Mentor Program helps both alumni and students to:
- develop personal and professional goals based on a better understanding of the industry;
- develop realistic career expectations;
- build interpersonal skills and self-confidence;
- gain knowledge of the real world of work.
The Concordia Mentor Program is for alumni who are:
- seeking personal and professional development opportunities, e.g. interpersonal skills;
- interested in networking with experienced professionals and entrepreneurs;
- developing a short or long-term career plan;
- transitioning and/or exploring career options;
- searching for the right career path;
- searching for job search and interviewing advice;
- exploring higher education programs.
Mentoring is:
- a non-judgmental relationship operating within agreed boundaries of confidentiality and timeframe;
- focused on the menteeís learning and development;
- a voluntary relationship;
- based on the menteeís personal and professional goals;
- a way to get and stay involved with the Concordia community.
Mentoring is not:
- an obligation;
- a power relationship;
- a therapy;
- a 'quick-fix' to a menteeís problems;
- a personal counseling session for the mentee;
- a way to motivate a mentee who is unwilling to take responsibility for his own development;
- a job interview
