Join us to explore treasured works of Québécois and Canadian literature through the eyes of contemporary Fine Arts students. Guylaine Beaudry, director of the Webster Library, will also perform on the piano.
This Homecoming event celebrates the recent donation of a collection of livres d'artistes to Concordia Libraries. Livres d'artistes from the Sylvia and Irving Camlot Collection were designed, crafted and printed in Montreal from the 1960s through the 1980s. The books combine 20th-century fiction and poetry from Québécois writers with the original artwork of emerging and established Québécois artists. The books are treasured collectors' items that show the creativity and breadth of Québec and Canadian arts and letters.
Authors in the collection include Roland Giguère, Gabrielle Roy, Anne Hébert, Roch Carrier, Hubert Aquin, Gaston Miron, Claude Péloquin and Marie Josée Thériault.
Artists featured in the books include Fernand Toupin, Stanley Cosgrove, Arthur Villeneuve, Jean-Paul Lemieux, Francine Simonin, Alfred Pellan and Antoine Prévost.
