Concordia President Alumni Tour
Alumni and friends are invited to join us to celebrate Concordia President Alan Shepard as he prepares to step down after seven years of outstanding leadership.
In recognition of his tremendous contributions to our university and community, we are launching the 2019 Concordia President Alumni Tour.
The tour will visit 10 locations across North America and Europe from February to April, 2019.

The Campaign for Concordia
In November 2017, Concordia launched the Campaign for Concordia: Next-Gen. Now, the university’s most ambitious fundraising campaign ever, with the goal of raising $250 million. As of January 2019, the campaign is more than halfway to its target.
Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science
In September 2018, Gina Cody, MEng 81, PhD 89, donated $15 million to Concordia’s Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. In recognition of Cody’s generosity and outstanding professional accomplishments, the faculty was renamed the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science. It became the first engineering faculty in Canada named after a woman.
In 2015, Concordia unveiled its Nine Strategic Directions, outlining the institution’s path to becoming Canada’s next-generation university. The Strategic Directions include to doubling our research, teaching for tomorrow, getting our hands dirty and taking pride.
Public Scholars Program
In 2017, the Public Scholars Program was launched in partnership with the Montreal Gazette to showcase the value that our doctoral students bring to our city and our world. Ten highly qualified PhD students are selected across our four faculties every year to connect and share their knowledge with the wider community.
Launched in January 2019, 4TH SPACE is a science centre, living lab, theatre, design showroom and exhibition space. It is an immersive experience designed to bring knowledge and ideas to life. It offers programming grounded in innovation and creativity, revealing research and experiential learning activities that focus on compelling issues, surrounding humans, culture and society – in inspired and inventive ways.
District 3 Innovation Center
Launched in 2013, District 3 Innovation Center is a leading innovation hub uniting the Montreal ecosystem for innovators and entrepreneurs to move from idea to impact with confidence. The centre brings together key players from corporations, government, research, and academia to ensure every innovator and entrepreneur has access to the resources they need to succeed.
Horizon Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Horizon Postdoctoral Fellowships are part of Concordia’s commitment to double our research. Introduced in 2016, Concordia funds 24-30 two-year fellowships every year across a range of disciplines. This highly competitive program attracts the best and brightest researchers from Canada and the around the world.
Indigenous Leadership Group
The Indigenous Leadership Group was announced in 2016 to form part of Concordia’s response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Principles for Reconciliation and Calls to Action. The group’s three-year mandate involves recommending administrative and governance frameworks, including an advisory mechanism that will integrate community participation into decision-making related to curriculum and pedagogy, research, space and services.
