23rd annual Alumni Recognition Awards recognize septet of exemplary faculty, volunteers and donors

For the 23rd year, the Concordia University Alumni Association honoured an impressive group of alumni, faculty and friends for their loyalty and generosity to the community.

About 100 people celebrated the seven honorees at the Alumni Recognition Awards Banquet, held at Montreal’s Sofitel Hotel on May 20.

The 2014 recipients are:

  • Alumna of the Year: Kahente Horn-Miller, BA 99, MA 03, PhD 09
  • Honorary Life Membership: David J. Azrieli, LLD 75
  • Humberto Santos Award of Merit: J. Pierre Brunet, BComm 70
  • Benoît Pelland Distinguished Service Award: John Aylen, MA 76
  • MBA Alumna of the Year: Nancy Hammond, BComm 89, MBA 93
  • Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching: Saul Carliner
  • Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award: Marguerite Mendell, BA 72

The event was organized by Advancement and Alumni Relations. Concordia President Alan Shepard welcomed honourees and guests, while Bram Freedman, vice-president of Development and External Relations, and Secretary-General, served as master of ceremonies.
