Required documents
Once you have completed the online application, it is important to ensure the University receives all necessary supporting documents. Below we have provided you with some guidelines for sending transcripts, additional program-specific documents, and proof of status in Canada.
Sending transcripts
We strongly encourage you to upload your supporting documents (including transcripts) as they allow us to proceed with the initial assessment of your application and will speed up the review of your file. These will be needed to finalize your admission and will be requested in your Offer of Admission.*
All transcripts received via the upload process are considered unofficial. Official transcripts are those sent directly to the Undergraduate Admissions Application Centre by the institution or examining board concerned. If your academic records are in a language other than English or French, please arrange for the submission of a certified translation in either English or French in addition to the transcript in the original language.
*The University reserves the right to request official documents at any time during the admissions process, and rescind any Offer of Admission made if discrepancies between unofficial and official documents are found.
Conditional Admission
If you have received conditional admission, please ensure that you meet all of the conditions outlined on your Offer by the start of the term for which you are offered admission. If it appears that you will have difficulty meeting the conditions, please contact the individual who signed your Offer of Admission.
Methods of sending official transcripts (if they have been requested) based on region:
| If being sent by mail, official documents must be sent to: Concordia University Undergraduate Admissions Application Centre P.O. Box 2900 Montreal, Quebec, Canada H3G 2S2 |
If documents are being sent by a courier or submitted in-person use the following address: Hours of operation |
| Please note: If you are bringing original documents in person, and you do not wish to leave the originals, please ensure that you have made sufficient photocopies to leave with us. | |
Quebec Cegep Applicants
Your permanent code must be included on your application so that the University can obtain your official transcripts electronically from the Conférence des recteurs et des principaux des universités du Québec (CREPUQ) as soon as they are available. It is essential that you include your permanent code to avoid delays in processing your application. Unless notified otherwise you do not need to provide a copy of your Cegep transcript.
Ontario High School Applicants
An agreement with the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) allows us to receive high school transcripts electronically. However, Concordia will only be able to access this information if you provide us with a valid OUAC number for the current year and have also applied to universities in Ontario. If you did not apply through OUAC you must arrange for your high school to send us an official transcript.
January Entry: The OUAC system does not transmit transcripts during the winter Term. Therefore, if you are applying for admission to the winter Term, you must arrange for your high school to send us an official transcript.
Other Canadian Provinces/United States Applicants
It is your responsibility to ensure that an official copy of your transcript is forwarded directly to the Admissions Application Centre from all previous educational institutions. If you are currently enrolled in school, you must submit the results of previous terms and a list of courses in which you are currently registered, including your mid-year grades if they are available. An official transcript which includes the results of the final semester must be forwarded as soon as possible.
International Applicants
Applicants from outside North America must arrange to have their school(s) mail an official transcript directly to the Admissions Application Centre. All transcripts should be in the original language. If that is neither English nor French, you must also submit a copy translated into English or French by a certified translator. If the transcript does not detail the subjects taken and the grades achieved, a certified statement of these from an authorized official of the institution must also be submitted.
College/University Transfer Applicants
Arrangements must be made for the submission of an official transcript indicating the courses in progress. Official final transcripts must also be sent showing the successful completion of courses and in the case of students who are being awarded a degree the transcript must indicate that the degree has been granted.
If the school is within North America it is possible to submit official transcripts either in person or by courier. The transcripts must be in a sealed envelope bearing the name and address of the school, and must have the institutional seal (if applicable), a notice on the envelope stating that it contains official transcripts, as well as a signature/signature stamp/explanatory label placed across the seal of the envelope.
Sending additional program specific requirements
In addition to the general admission requirements, some programs have additional program-specific requirements such as a letter of intent, portfolio, or curriculum vitae. In general these additional documents are sent to the department directly, not the university’s general mailing address. It is the responsibility of the applicant to determine what further documentation may be required as well as the deadlines by which any additional documentation is required. For more information, please visit the programs with additional requirements page.
Sending proof of status in Canada
All applicants, except for International and Cegep applicants, must provide proof of their status in Canada. If you have been accepted and have not provided this proof of status, you will automatically be charged the higher International tuition fees. To provide proof of Canadian Citizen/Permanent resident status, you must submit a photocopy of one of the following documents:
- Canadian birth certificate
- Canadian citizenship card (both sides)
- Permanent resident card (both sides) or IMM 5292
The following documents are not accepted:
- Driver’s licence
- Medicare card
- Social Insurance Number card
Mature Student Entry
If you applied for mature student entry a curriculum vitae is usually required. Also required is a birth certificate or other acceptable proof of age, together with scholastic records and any documents which may indicate your ability to pursue university studies.
