General admission requirements
Admission Requirements by Region
The following are the minimum qualifications required and do not guarantee admission.

| Quebec | Completion of a two-year pre-university program or a three-year professional DEC (Diplôme d'études collégiales). CRC minimum requirements for admission vary between 19.00 and 30.00; however, based on space availability students below this average may be considered. |
| Alberta | High school diploma with a minimum of 5 academic courses, numbered 30 or 31, one of which must be English Language Arts 30-1. Also acceptable: Math 30-2 and one 35-level course provided it is a 5-credit course. |
British Columbia |
High school diploma with a minimum of 4 approved grade 12 academic subjects, one of which must be English 12. Note: Communications 12 is not acceptable as one of the four required subjects. |
| Manitoba | High school diploma with a minimum of 5 academic grade 12 40S courses, one of which must be an ELA Focus 40S. Note: Essential Math 40S is not acceptable as one of the 5 courses. |
| New Brunswick | High school diploma with a minimum of 5 appropriate grade 12 academic courses (numbered120, 121 or 122), one of which must be English 121 or 122. |

| Ontario | High school diploma with a minimum of 6 grade 12U and/or M courses, including English 4U (Français 4U if attending a French secondary school). |
| Prince Edward Island | High school diploma with a minimum of 5 academic grade 12 courses numbered 611 or 621, one of which must be English. |
| Saskatchewan | High school diploma with a minimum of 5 grade 12 academic courses, two of which must be English Language Arts 30A and English Language Arts 30B. |
| Yukon | High school diploma with a minimum of 4 approved grade 12 academic subjects, one of which must be English 12. Note: Communications 12 is not acceptable as one of the four required subjects. |
| International Applicants | In general, if you have completed the level of education required for admission to university in your home province, state or country, and have achieved good grades, you are eligible to apply for admission. |
| International Baccalaureate | International Baccalaureate diploma with a minimum total of 27 points. |

Admission Requirements by Program/Faculty
Some programs require pre-requisite courses or a specific academic profile. Others may require a portfolio, interview or audition. Please consult Programs with additional requirements.
Some applicants may be required to take an English language proficiency test.

Why does it take longer if I am a graduate of a high school outside of Quebec?
Students in Quebec must complete a minimum of 13 years of study (as opposed to 12 years for non- Quebec students) prior to entering university.
*Extended Credit Program (ECP)
Students entering from secondary schools outside Quebec are admitted to the ECP, which requires the completion of 30 credits in addition to the (90 or 120 credit) degree program. In some programs, students must take specific first-year courses. See each degree description for specific details.
**Mature Entry Program (MEP)
Canadians and Permanent Residents who are 21 years of age or older and who lack the normal pre-university schooling may be considered for admission to the MEP, which requires successful completion of a minimum of 18 additional credits. Please see Mature Entry for admissions requirements.
