Creating and submitting an application

The application may be saved at any point, allowing you to partially complete the process if necessary and return to it later.

You will need a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) for the application fee and a valid email address for correspondence.

Log in to Connect2.Concordia.ca and look for the “Apply Now” link to start.
Here, you will be asked:

  • To specify what type of application you are creating (undergraduate, graduate, or School of Extended Learning Certificate).

  • To indicate what category of applicant you are (Cegep student, high school student from outside the province of Quebec, International student, etc.)

Sections of the application

Biographical

Here you provide your name, date of birth, first language, email address and other details. Please make sure that all information is accurate and coincides with all official supporting documents. The email address you provide here will be the one we use to communicate with you throughout the admissions process.

Address/Telephone

You may specify a different mailing address from the one you have listed as your home address. This information may be changed at a later date through the MyConcordia Portal.

Programs

Here, you will select a concentration (major, specialization, honours or option). In some cases you may also choose a minor, though a minor can be added later in your studies. Concentrations allow you to pursue your program of choice with different levels of academic intensity and for different purposes. In some cases, you can combine different concentrations (for example, an honours, specialization, or major may be combined with a minor. In some circumstances, a double major is possible).

You may indicate up to three program choices on your application. Your first choice program should be your preferred program, as you will not be considered for your subsequent programs unless you are refused admission to your previous choice. Students who do not meet requirements for honours or specialization will automatically be considered for the major of that program.

Colleges, Schools and Institutes (optional)
In this section you also have the option of specifying if you wish to apply to one of Concordia’s specialized colleges, schools or institutes.

Co-operative Education (optional)
If you are interested in applying to the Institute for Co-operative Education, you must check off the co-op box when choosing your program on the application form. In some co-op programs, selected applicants may be interviewed by a co-op committee.

All Extended Credit Program (ECP) students interested in co-op are strongly encouraged to contact the Institute as ECP students are normally only considered for co-op in their second or third year of study, depending on the program. Co-op applicants may be asked to provide a resumé of educational, volunteer and work experience and a statement that outlines their interest in the co-operative education format.

Academic History

Here, you are asked to list previous academic institutions (high school, college, university etc), the time period during which you studied at these institutions, and the degree/level that you have completed. If you do not disclose your entire secondary and post-secondary academic history when you apply, your acceptance, placement level or registration may be affected.

Ontario students will specify on this page if they are applying through the OUAC system.

Courses

Please indicate any courses you are currently enrolled in and which ones you intend to complete. While this information will be included on the transcripts being sent to the university, it is important that it also be included on the application.

Attach Documents

Not all applicants are required to attach documents to their application; please verify ahead of time if anything extra is needed. Should you need to submit documents or transcripts, we encourage you to attach them at the time of application. Documents may also be added after the application has been submitted, by accessing the Application Centre in the MyConcordia Portal.

Some undergraduate programs require additional documents that need to be mailed directly to the department. It is your responsibility to verify which of your programs have additional requirements.

Finalize

Release of Information
If you would like a parent, guardian, or guidance counsellor to inquire about the status of your application you may authorize a release of information on the “Finalize” page of your application. The authorized person can then inquire if documents have arrived or if there is anything outstanding on your application. Once you are admitted, this person will no longer have any access to your file. Your Concordia student file is confidential and no one, regardless of relation, will have access to any personal information without your authorization.

Information Source
You will be asked which informational source prompted you to consider submitting an application to Concordia.

Application Fee
Once you have agreed to the terms and conditions of the university you must then pay the non-refundable application fee by credit card – Visa, MasterCard or American Express – to finalize your application. If you do not have access to a valid credit card, you may request a PDF of the application form via your personal mailbox within Connect2.Concordia.ca. Please note that the PDF application takes longer to process.

After submitting your application

Once you have submitted your online application, you will receive a confirmation email with a seven digit student ID number, and prompting you to create a username and password for the MyConcordia Portal.

If you did not receive a confirmation email, verify your junk mail folder. If you have still not received a confirmation, please call at 514-848-2424, extension 2668 to request that your student ID number be emailed to you. For technical difficulties with your online application or MyConcordia Portal please contact the Instructional & Information Technology Services (IITS) Helpline.
