Academic plan 2012-2016
Expand our research strength
We will invest strategically in the research, scholarship, and creative work that is fundamental to Concordia’s institutional reputation, and a significant factor in making the university attractive to prospective faculty and students.
Promote program quality and innovation
We will streamline our processes and allocate new resources to support innovative program development, evaluation and growth.
Build support for student success
We will build on Concordia’s current practices to provide an outstanding learning experience for our students. We remain committed to preparing all our students to master the academic skills we consider essential to their success.
Increase experiential learning and community engagement
We will increase opportunities for students to participate in local, national, and international internships and other forms of applied learning. We will also explore ways to strengthen university-community partnerships.
Improve academic leadership and administrative support
We will build capacity for leading collegially and collaboratively, and take actions to improve transparency and efficiency.
The Academic Plan 2012-2016 is a detailed roadmap that will lead us toward a future of continuous academic success. Based on Concordia’s Strategic Framework, Reaching Up, Reaching Out, the plan outlines how the university will realize its vision to be ranked among Canada’s top five comprehensive universities.
The plan — made up of five, top-level objectives and 82 corresponding actions — was designed to benefit every segment of the Concordia population. To set these actions in motion, we must move forward with the same collaborative approach and rigorous consultation process we used to create the plan.
The plan’s successful implementation rests on our ability to unify through collaboration with faculty, staff, students and community members.
