What to compost at Concordia

All compostable material are accepted at Concordia including animal products (meat and dairy) and compostable plastic containers and cutlery (bioplastics, PLA, compostable plastic number 7).

Where to compost

Find a compost bin at most areas where food is consumed on campus! That includes cafeterias, cafes, kitchenettes, and common rooms. Need a compost bin? Contact x2400!

What happens to the compost?

Off-site composting

Organics are picked up by an external service provider for off-site composting. See Matrec's website for more info on their composting process.

On-site composting

We're offering small-scale composters to any groups or departments on campus who'd like to process organic waste and use the compost! Get in touch at zerowaste@concordia.ca.
