TO IDENTIFYING ITS
9 STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
Concordia launched its strategic directions initiative in January 2015 with Phase 1.
Led by a Strategic Directions Advisory Group, a number of activities were held to invite Concordians to engage in lively and thoughtful discussions about the university’s future.
This included the speaker series, The Future of the University and the Future of Learning, consultations with students, faculty and staff through Idea Cafés and other activities as well as several working groups.
The result was a preliminary draft document that outlined nine proposed strategic directions.
Following feedback from the community, including Senate, the nine strategic directions document was approved by both the Board of Governors and Senate in the spring of 2015. Read the document here.
Phase 2, from September 2015 to April 2016, resulted in more detailed planning work by Faculties, Libraries and administrative areas to identify their priorities, aligned with the nine strategic directions.
We also developed cross-institutional strategies for these directions: Double our Research, Teach for Tomorrow, Grow Smartly, and Embrace the City, Embrace the World.
Finally, a Strategic Directions Game Plan document was produced and presented to Senate in May 2016. It identifies priority action we plan to take to become a future-ready, next-generation university. Read the final game plan.
