Scope

Reporting to the Manager, DBA and Quality Assurance, the incumbent evaluates user requirements, performs quality control, creates and executes test plans and procedures and designs solutions for the administrative information systems of the University. He/she also provides day-to-day system modifications, provides support to end-users and modifies the system in support of the University’s mission, adhering to departmental systems development standards and procedures.

Primary responsibilities

  • Analyze administrative functions and recommends system solutions to make them more effective.
  • Undertake modifications to the system to respond to clients’ changing needs.
  • Create and execute test plan and procedures.
  • Provide support to end-users for different services within the APM team.
  • Coordinate testing and approval of system changes for each project.
  • Actively participate in meetings with representatives from different services and faculties; organize and chair related meetings when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer Science or in Decision science and two to four years of experience in application systems analysis, testing and programming.
  • Experience working with end-users and developing and implementing solutions to meet their needs.
  • Knowledge of Java, C++, Visual Basic and web development languages such as ASP JSP, HTML, and XML.
  • Knowledge of version control software, Team Foundation Server, Surround SCM.
  • Knowledge of database access methodology and database structures, Oracle, SQL,
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Banner an asset.
  • Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English to communicate effectively with clients. Spoken and written French desirable.
  • Highly organized multitasker with the ability to work well under pressure and short deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary

$57,922.98 - $69,223.33 per annum
