Scope
Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Planning and Budgets, the incumbent will contribute to the development and implementation of budget planning and control practices in Financial Services and promote university wide transparency of practices. He/she will propose and ensure that processes and procedures are adhered to in accordance with university regulations and ensure the appropriate implementation thereof.
Primary responsibilities
- Manage workload of professional staff, ensure that all work is properly scheduled, completed, and documented. Provide training when necessary.
- Develop working relationships with University budget managers in an effort to provide adequate support and resources as needed.
- Develop and implement training processes to help budget managers better understand University budget processes, procedures and systems/tools.
- Prepare quarterly financial reports as required by the Senior Director.
- Recommend and initiate improvements regarding budget process and procedures.
- Participate in internal and external committees as required by the Senior Director.
- Perform other duties as required by the Senior Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce with a major in Accounting or in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years of related experience in accounting; including at least four years of experience in employee supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of General Accounting and Auditing Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of University budgeting.
- Professional designation/certificate (CFA, CA, etc..) an asset.
- Good spoken with written English and French (Level 4) in order to communicate with both the internal community and external bodies.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of MS Word, Excel and Access to analyze and manipulate financial information on spreadsheets, databases and financial systems.
- Proven exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to achieve results.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work autonomously or be part of a team.
Salary
$68,764.01 - $82,179.38 per annum
