Scope

Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Planning and Budgets, the incumbent conducts high level financial analyses to support senior management in making key budgetary decisions. He/she is responsible for managing projects both ad-hoc and ongoing relating to operational revenues and expenses as well as budgetary issues and processes.

Primary responsibilities

  • Manage, process and analyze results of course and program costing exercises.
  • Develop a program/structure to capture, evaluate and manage the indirect costs associated with Concordia University research which includes evaluating the gap between actual costs and current funding.
  • Manage/validate analyses related to University operating revenue calculations and ensure that they are in compliance with external regulations and accurately reflected in the budget process and in the projections.
  • Perform financial analyses that will assist senior management in making key decisions.
  • Prepare draft recommendations on analyses done and actively participate in discussions thereon.
  • Provide graphical and visual presentations for formal presentations utilizing high grade technology.
  • Recommend, develop and implement policies and procedures in order to meet the objectives of the university.
  • Participate in internal and external committees as required by the Director.
  • Perform any other tasks, as assigned by Director or Chief Financial Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years of related work experience in audit and/or financial analysis.
  • Professional designation in accounting or in another relevant area.
  • Good spoken and written English (Level 4) in order to provide information and clear explanations and basic spoken and written French (Level 3).
  • Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word (to write and format correspondence and charts); very good knowledge (Advance level) of PowerPoint and Excel (to analyze and manipulate financial information on spreadsheets and databases and produce presentations). Experience in large-scale computerized budget systems.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Salary

$68,764.01 - $82,179.38 per annum
