Scope

Reporting to the Director, Web Communications, the incumbent collaborates closely with Concordia’s academic and administrative units to ensure that the University’s visual identity and strategic priorities are reflected across its entire digital presence, which includes public and private websites, social media, mobile sites and applications, mass email campaigns, and newsletters.

Primary responsibilities

  • As a member of the core team for the Web Content Management System (WCMS) project, create and update content and migrate it from existing websites into the WCMS; manage permissions for content contributors from academic and administrative units.
  • Write, edit, and format content and determine where it should appear on the University’s public and private sites, on social networking and mobile sites and applications, and within mass email blasts and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with communications advisors, graphic designers, translators, and subject matter experts from academic and administrative units to create and update content.
  • Assist with creating publishing guidelines to improve and maintain the University’s entire digital presence.
  • Create and maintain social media accounts on behalf of the University or of a particular academic or administrative unit.
  • Monitor web, social media, and email campaign analytics and deliver both quantitative and qualitative reports.
  • Create and distribute mass email blasts and newsletters.
  • Assist in developing and implementing search-engine optimization strategies.
  • Assist the Director in scheduling meetings and setting priorities for the Web Communications unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of experience working in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or other related area. Experience with large-scale, web content management systems a definite asset.
  • Very good spoken and written English (Level 5) to review and modify content and help the university community refine and improve its entire digital presence; basic spoken and written French (Level 3) for routine communications.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and Dreamweaver; knowledge of social media.
  • Good design sense and skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff members, as well as students.

Salary

$59,233 - $70,790 per annum
