Scope
Reporting to the Director and Senior Advisor, Rights and Responsibilities, the incumbent assists in carrying out the functions of the Office of Rights and Responsibilities as defined in the Code of Rights and Responsibilities, BD-3 (the "Code") and related policies by working with University members to resolve incidents involving alleged violations of the Code in an effective and constructive manner. The incumbent reviews University-related behavioral complaints and cases of concern, and will provide assistance as required to such incidents. He/she will assist in promoting, through education and direct intervention, the values of the Code while carrying out specified duties.
Primary responsibilities
- Advise, assist and support members of the University in resolving incidents involving alleged violations of the Code in an effective and constructive manner. Apply an in-depth knowledge of Concordia's rules, regulations and practices to behavioral situations, specifically related to the functions of this Office.
- Conduct intake interviews, design effective case plans, meet deadlines and evaluate results. Participate in case review to foster efficient caseload management.
- Work closely with the members of the Office of Rights and Responsibilities to meet annual objectives and develop best practices.
- Within his/her functions, foster constructive and effective relationships with University members in promoting the office's mandate, role, and the rights and responsibilities set out in the Code as well as fostering a safe and respectful environment.
- Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Office's outreach initiatives, communication strategies, promotional materials, educational programming and training.
- Assist with the regular casework, file, and database management, as well as the preparation of the annual report including the gathering and analysis of casework data, statistics, findings, trends, recommendations, and information for effective planning.
- Support the Director and Senior Advisor, Rights and Responsibilities in administrative duties and follow-up as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years of experience working in a university environment, and/or experience in a conflict resolution role in a complex administrative environment.
- Ability to work well amongst students, faculty, and staff while administering and correctly interpreting policy provisions, procedures, and agreements.
- Well-developed listening, analytical, interpersonal and mediation skills.
- Very good written and spoken English (Level 5), Good spoken and written French (Level 4).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with or ability to learn new database software.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and influencing skills
- Superior ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion commensurate with the mandate of the Office of Rights and Responsibilities.
- Diligent attention to detail as well as excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Salary
$66, 194 - $76, 803 per annum
