Scope

Reporting to the Senior Director, Budget Planning and Control, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing financial data related to budget planning and control and ensuring optimal liaison and information with departments in regard to the establishment and control of University department budgets.

Primary responsibilities

  • Analyze University department budgets.
  • Analyze, prepare and enter University operating budgets into the financial information system and maintains the budget data with additions and corrections and changes.
  • Analyze data and prepares projection, schedules and presentations.
  • Develop workshops to train user community with the financial information systems.
  • Identify areas for improvement and makes recommendations and follows up on decisions made.
  • Liaise and negotiates with departments in meeting budget objectives and best practices.
  • Ensure that personal and team objectives are met within the Office of Budget Planning & Control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of related work experience including budget or finance.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, budget, bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Good spoken and written of English (Level 4) in order to effectively communicate with the University community and basic knowledge of French (Level 3) in order to effectively communicate with both internal and external bodies.
  • Very good knowledge (Advanced level) of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access (to produce reports and presentation materials).
  • Knowledge of Concordia University Financial Information System (Banner), Concordia University Human Resources Information System and Millennium are definite assets.
  • Requires previous experience in conducting formal presentations.
  • Proven ability to prioritize during peak periods.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Salary

$57,922.98 - $69,223.33 per annum
