Scope
Reporting to the Director, Web Communications, the incumbent assists Concordia University’s Faculty of Arts and Science in ensuring that its visual identity and strategic priorities are reflected across its entire digital communications presence, which includes public and private websites, social media, mobile websites and applications, and mass email campaigns and newsletters that target all of its audiences: prospective and current students, faculty and staff, journalists, donors, alumni, and the general public.
Primary responsibilities
- Initiate and implement strategies that ensure the effectiveness of the Faculty of Arts and Science public and private websites.
- Continuously review and modify content that appears online.
- Train full-time and casual content authors on how to create and manage content using the Web Content Management System (WCMS); on how to create, distribute, and monitor mass email campaigns and e-newsletters; and on how to create, manage, and monitor the effectiveness of social media sites.
- As part of the WCMS project core team, create and update the Faculty’s content and migrate it from existing websites into the WCMS; manage permissions for the Faculty’s full-time and casual content contributors.
- Monitor web, social media, and mass email campaign/newsletter analytics on behalf of the Faculty and its departments, and provide both quantitative and qualitative reports.
- Create and distribute mass email campaigns and newsletters for the Faculty and for UCS.
- Conduct competitive analyses and research into digital communications best practices, industry standards, and latest trends.
- Plan for topics and organize or lead meetings with other UCS web communications team members, as well as digital communications experts across the university.
- Assist with creating publishing guidelines to improve and maintain the Faculty’s and university’s entire digital communications presence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or in other field relevant to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of experience in digital communications.
- Experience with website management and web content management systems.
- Very good spoken and written English (Level 5) to review and modify content; basic spoken and written French (Level 3) for routine communication.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Reader.
- Superior skills as a social media practitioner.
- Good design sense and skills, creativity, and innovation.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with different stakeholders and audiences.
Salary
$57,922.98 - $69,223.33 per annum
