Note

This posting represents two permanent full-time positions: 39 hours per week, (4-day workweek, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

Scope

Reporting to the Technical and Mechanical Supervisor, the incumbent maintains various types of stationary machines and auxiliary equipment on both campuses.

Primary responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment such as boilers, chillers, fans, pumps, and compressors; and control systems equipment to provide heating, ventilation, and refrigeration.
  • Respond to service calls
  • Prepare and work on material; submit (for approval) requisition for materials and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor (including cleaning of equipment and mechanical rooms).
  • Replace Shift Mechanic when required.

Requirements

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in Stationary Mechanical Systems or in Electro-Mechanics or Attestation of Collegial Studies (ACS) in Building Systems or in Instrumentation and Controls or Diploma of College Studies (DEC 3-year technical program) in Building Systems, in Electro-Mechanics or in Instrumentation and Controls and two years of work related experience.
  • Stationary engineman license, Class “4” in heating, and Class “B” in refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English and French (Level 3) in order to read and understand drawings, instructions, and technical manuals, and to respond to service calls.
  • Basic knowledge of Word (to create routine letters and memorandums), of Excel (to enter data and print worksheets).
  • Valid driver’s license in Quebec.
  • Physical ability as attested by successful completion of a medical evaluation to the University’s satisfaction (i.e. maintain equipment, cleaning of equipment and mechanical rooms).

Salary

$22.86 per hour (Collective agreement under negotiation)
