This is a permanent full-time position: 38.75 hours per week, (4-day workweek from 7:00a.m. to 4:45p.m.).
Scope
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for replacing burned out lamps, ballast, sockets and clean lighting fixtures.
Primary responsibilities
- Replace burned out lamps in designated areas.
- Ensure that proper quantity of replacement lamps are transported on assigned tour of building.
- Conduct inventory of the lamp stock in the storeroom and advise the supervisor on required restocking orders.
- Clean all fixtures with required cloths after replacing burned out lamps.
- Report any damaged, missing or malfunctioning electrical equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist electricians in carrying out electrical maintenance duties as needed (i.e. housekeeping).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (DSS) and a minimum of 6 months of related work experience.
- Construction Safety Course Certificate is essential.
- Basic spoken and written English and French (Level 3) in order to read and understanding drawings, instructions, technical manuals, respond to service calls and complete forms.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to bring tasks to successful completion within stipulated period of time.
- Valid driver’s license in Quebec.
- Physical ability as attested by successful completion of a medical evaluation to the University’s satisfaction (i.e.: to carry, climb, work in heights, and repair electrical fixtures).
Salary
$17.18 per hour (Collective agreement under negotiation)
