This is a full-time maternity leave replacement position effective until March 4, 2014.

Scope

Reporting to the Manager, Admissions and Enrolment, the incumbent is responsible for advising and guiding students on their application to a program in the John Molson School of Business until a decision is made regarding admission to an undergraduate JMSB program.

Primary responsibilities

  • Participate in the establishment of team objectives and operational plans for the recruitment, admission, registration, and management of the Faculty’s undergraduate students regarding academic programs and regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate student applications for admission to the Faculty’s undergraduate programs.
  • Provide timely and appropriate responses regarding applications for admission, degree transfers, course exemptions and transfer credit assessments to students and staff members. Update the database of equivalencies between courses offered at Concordia and courses offered at other colleges and universities.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and events designed to attract potential students to the Faculty and to the University. Provide appropriate assistance to potential students concerning programs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relations with selected market segments for the Faculty and the University (e.g., school and college counsellors, professional organizations, cultural groups, industrial organizations, geographic areas).
  • Analyze data and make recommendations to the Manager, Admissions and Enrolment, the Associate Dean, and the Director, Academic Services, regarding trends, practices, and procedures.
  • Prioritize, assess and process applications received through special agreements with partner institutions.
  • Interview current, former and prospective students or counsel them over the telephone or by e-mail.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities (e.g., Open House, visits to Cegeps in the Greater Montreal area).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years of related work experience in an academic setting.
  • Previous work experience in the area of student life, knowledge of Canadian and international educational systems, and the University’s academic rules and regulations are assets.
  • Very good spoken and written English (Level 5) in order to write a variety of texts to communicate complex ideas. Good spoken French (Level 4) in order to participate in discussions on a variety of topics and to expand on them with relative ease. Basic written French (Level 3) is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and database systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills essential; ability to deal effectively with prospective, current students, staff members, the internal and external communities.
  • Proven written, analytical and organizational skills; ability to work under pressure for extended periods of time, take initiative, work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to establish priorities and work within strict deadlines.
  • Availability to occasionally work flexible hours (e.g. special events).

Salary

$57,922.98 - $69,223.33 per annum
