Scope
Reporting to the Manager - Learning Resources, the incumbent is responsible with the bookings, setups, and access of the musical instruments, audio-visual equipment, sheet music ("charts") and facilities for faculty and students.
Primary responsibilities
- Manage audio visual equipment, studio facilities bookings and inventory for the Departments of Music, Theatre, and Contemporary Dance.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot facilities, specialized software and hardware in support of classroom curriculum.
- Provide counter-service and instruct students and faculty in the operation of equipment and facilities.
- Supervise, functionally, work-study and/or timesheet employees in the depot.
- As delegated by the Manager manage assigned budgets including fees related to departmental resources.
- As delegated by the Manager research, assess, recommend, and price new acquisitions in consultation with the Departments of Music, Theatre, Contemporary Dance, with consideration for academic and production needs.
- Undertake other tasks as required by the Manager – Learning Resources.
Requirements
- Diploma of College Studies (3-year technical program) in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and four years of related work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and two years of related work experience.
- Working knowledge of musical instruments and the care and maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to read sheet music.
- Good knowledge of spoken English (Level 4) in order to provide and interpret precise information and knowledge of written English (Level 3). Knowledge of spoken French (Level 3); written knowledge of French an asset.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Excel and of Word (to enter data on a worksheet and create documents).
- Must be able to deal with a stressful and fast changing environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dedicated to providing exemplary customer service.
- Experience with live performance setups.
- Physical ability as attested by successful completion of medical evaluation to the University’s satisfaction.(e.g.: to lift and carry several times a day a wide range of equipment weighing at time 20 kg).
Salary
$21.44 - $32.29 per hour
