Foursquare
In Foursquare many of our campus buildings have been tagged by people with tips. These include the Best places to study at Concordia University and Cheap eats around Concordia University.
Our two campuses are interconnected by a community of people that like to engage with friends and colleagues in new ways. Location based social networking is another way to share and learn.
Foursquare is a downloadable app for smart phones and allows users to share their location with friends by "checking in" to various locations mapped out on GPS. While walking, if the "radar" feature is on, tips can pop-up about the location one is in and what is nearby. Foursquare is also a game. If a user has checked-in to a location on more days than anyone else in the past 60 days they are crowned mayor. They can also earn badges and can be offered specials by participating venues.
