STARTUP NATIONS
Dream UP. Stand UP. Start UP.
From November 17 to 19 2017, more than 45 young Indigenous youth from across the province gathered at StartUP Nations.
Concordia University, in partnership with the Table régionale d'économie sociale des Premières Nations, co-hosted the first edition of this three-day gathering.
The event was designed to provide youth with an experiential learning experience focused on the development of a collective (social economy) entrepreneurial initiative.
Our shared vision is to provide these creative participants with the skills to develop their business acumen and self-confidence, so they can go home with strength and courage to achieve their goals for themselves and their communities.
Our first edition in numbers:
3 days, 45 youth from 8 communities, 9 coaches, 1 panel, 7 workshops, and the very first series of pitches for 8 emerging entrepreneurial ventures.
Creating connections
For many participants, this was a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded youth across the province who wished to contribute to the economic development of their communities.
Honing skills
The training program was a participatory process, with valued input from our partners at District 3 Innovation Centre, La Fabrique Entrepreneuriale, Les Ateliers Tapiskwan and Réseau COOP.
Building partnerships
"Concordia is proud to host this pilot partnership project. We are committed to continue our work to cultivate long-term relationships with Indigenous communities."
